About Alida Taylor

Background

Alida’s journey in the world of art began with her qualification as a fine art teacher at WITS TECHNICON several decades ago. Building upon this foundation, she furthered her education by earning a BA at UNISA and later completing a postgraduate Higher Diploma in Visual Art.

Throughout her career, Alida has shared her passion for art through teaching at prestigious institutions such as the Johannesburg School of Art Ballet Music and Drama, Queens High, and King David High School Linksfield. Additionally, she has contributed to education as a Matric marker for several years.

Dedicated to nurturing artistic talent, Alida has conducted classes for adults in her studio, fostering creativity and expression. Her commitment to artistic growth is reflected in her regular exhibitions alongside her students, spanning multiple decades.

Alida’s artistic journey has seen her showcase her talent through solo exhibitions at renowned venues such as the Unisa Gallery and the RCHCC gallery. Currently, she balances her time between teaching art and creating in her home studio, where she explores various media with a particular focus on mixed media techniques.
